Decadis helps companies harness the digital world. With services in Atlassian Solutions, Data Analytics, Database Marketing and Individual Software, Decadis is a trusted partner for connecting people and leveraging data, communications, processes and organizations. As an Atlassian Platinum Marketplace Partner, the focus is on developing high-quality apps and services for the Atlassian Marketplace, which more than 12 million users and the largest companies in the world work with every day.
When Decadis asked us, the redesign of the corporate identity was already in its final stages. BESPOKE Marketing GmbH had created more than just a basis for a visual identity with a new logo for Decadis AG, a coordinated color palette and a matching font pairing. There was already a pool of iconography and each app on the Atlassian Marketplace had a specially designed monster for visual recognition, or rather differentiation.
The next milestone was the redesign and development of the website for the company's 18th anniversary. In the course of the rebranding, the website of the Atlassian division of the company, which was previously handled autonomously, was to be integrated into the website of the overall company. A holistic and consistent experience for the users of the website was to be created with the help of Webflow. The new website was to act as a digital business card and increase and strengthen the awareness of the company for both potential customers and new employees, as well as for existing company members. The website redesign was also intended to significantly increase the company's positioning and visibility in the digital space. To achieve this, a customer journey was to be designed that would guide the user's eye through the site and visually encourage them, with fun and wit, to delve deeper into the site and ultimately trigger a user interaction. In short, conversion through storytelling.
After a full-day briefing at the offices of Decadis AG in Koblenz, a Webflow workshop followed with all those responsible at Studio WAGEMUT on site in Düsseldorf. The chemistry was right and everyone involved was keen on the project. We started with the wireframe of the start page in the golden circle according to Simon Sinek, i.e. communication from the inside to the outside. In addition to a mega menu to introduce the apps accordingly, it was important to offer the target groups different entry points to relevant content. The wireframe was approved relatively quickly, followed by the first moods. To do this, we asked Decadis and ourselves the questions: Where does our story begin and what direction do we want to take stylistically? After an intensive competitive analysis, it was clear that most of the industry had one thing in common and that was the use of isometric illustrations and iconography. Almost every page was plastered with such illustrations, which is why they all looked pretty much the same. This was due to the trend of bringing digital products to life with this type of illustration. The easy way would have been to adapt the existing pool of illustrations to the new corporate design. But that would have made the Decadis site look like all the other competitors in the shark tank of the competition. But what if we took the existing 2D illustrations of the monsters and transferred them into the 3D world, giving the whole thing more depth? Illustrations could be used selectively as support.
At one point in the correspondence, the phrase came up that Atlassian products with the Decadis apps expose the full power of the apps. Since each monster represents a particular app, we put all our eggs in one basket here, which is usually atypical for fleshing out moods. So it started with fleshing out the wild monsters in Blender 3D, and then we put them in a kind of glass prison, from which they naturally want to break out to demonstrate their full power. The rest is history.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire Decadis project management team for the terrific cooperation and the trust placed in us. You are daring!
